Man with the Banjo

by Paul Sinclair June 29, 2018
by Paul Sinclair June 29, 2018

The white guy with Banjo is the conscientious objector among the crowd. He could be “Occupy Wall Street” or any other protest movement but he plays amidst a crowd who largely ignores him. We feel the onset of something major as everyone else is attentively looking at their watches with a sense of anticipation… or maybe they are simply late for work. A lone member of the crowd turns around to listen to “The Man With The Banjo”. While he ploughs against the crowd, the lone black man, without any hesitation, tracks along with the flow, in spite of his outer differences in physical appearance, cultural background, upbringing, and ability to interpret and channel danger. False sense of acceptance by the crowd guides him unconsciously.
