Place des Vosges forms the backdrop.  Mammy looks on from a distance at liberated figure of amazing black woman in advertising edifice.  Josephine Baker did not arrive in Paris as a maid.  On her arrival, she dazzled as the black diva.  She established black as the new cool, the new sexy in Paris.  She defined ‘Paris Noir’.
